Fitness in the Parks
Get moving this summer with our Fitness in the Parks program! YMCA Buffalo Niagara is pleased to team up once again with Independent Health to offer Fitness in the Parks, a free outdoor community exercise program. Get outside and enjoy the great Buffalo weather without having to skip your workout.
Offered June 19-August 27, Fitness in the Parks takes place at convenient locations throughout Western New York. No registration is required. Check out the 2016 Fitness in the Parks schedule to see when and where your favorites are offered! Please note that cancellations due to rain or poor weather will be posted our YMCA Buffalo Niagara Facebook page.
Classes offered include:
Bootcamp – No excuses! Enjoy a challenging and fun, yet doable workout! Focus on speed, endurance, agility, strength, power moves, and cardiovascular training.
Cardio Dance – Simple yet challenging choreography set to music. Enhances cardiovascular endurance, muscle tone, flexibility, and coordination. All fitness levels welcome.
Cardio Kickboxing – A great way to relieve stress and tension, this aerobic based class combines martial arts, boxing, aerobic exercises, and strengthening exercises to increase flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination. Learn the proper way to kick and punch in a safe, non-contact environment.
Pilates – Pilates is a method of body conditioning named after Joseph Pilates. The class will strengthen the body’s core muscles including the abdominals and lower back. It will tone the body and increase flexibility.
Yoga – Yoga provides gentle, effective postures that promote stretching, strengthening, and relaxation. The benefits of yoga include increased blood circulation, improved mental awareness, strengthened muscles, and reduced stress.
Zumba® – Are you ready to party yourself into shape? Forget the workout, just lose yourself in the music and find yourself in shape at the original dance-fitness party. Zumba® classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before you know it, you’ll be getting fit and your energy levels will be soaring! It’s easy to do, effective, and totally exhilarating.
Zumba® Kids – The Zumba® Kids program is the ultimate dance-fitness party for young Zumba® fans ages 7-11, where they can play it loud and rock with friends to their own rules! This program features age-appropriate music and moves that get kids movin’ to the beat. It’s all about feeling fearless on the dance floor, reinforcing the idea that it’s okay to just be yourself and dance like no one’s watching!
