2008 Campaign Victory Results
On Tuesday, March 11, more than 130 campaigners, staff and YMCA friends came together to celebrate an exciting and successful conclusion to the 2008 Strong Kids Campaign. |
YMCA Buffalo Niagara proudly presented the following awards in recognition of outstanding achievements for the 2008 Strong Kids Campaign.
DONALD H. MEYNCKE AWARD
Presented to the branch which achieves the highest
percentage to the 2008 campaign goal. This award is named in honor of Donald Meyncke, the longest tenured YMCA Buffalo Niagara staff member (1923 - 1972). Following his retirement, Mr. Meyncke continued to dedicate more than 30 years to raising thousands of dollars for the YMCA’s annual campaign. His commitment to the YMCA earned him the association’s highest volunteer honor, the Gold Key in 1988.

GEORGE M. STANDISH AWARD
Presented to the branch which exceeds its Strong Kids goal by the highest percentage of dollars. This award is presented in memory of George M. Standish, a fourteen year-old boy who was the first paid employee of the YMCA (1853).
2008 Recipient - Lancaster Family Branch
122.3% to Goal
A.F. WHITFORD AWARD
Presented to the branch that achieves the greatest growth in pledged dollars over the previous year’s Victory Dinner report. This award is presented in memory of Alfred F. Whitford, YMCA CEO from 1898-1929, the longest serving CEO. He was a significant community leader who made the YMCA a highly successful organization.

Presented to the YMCA branch that secures the highest percentage of renewal value based on the 2007 victory report.

Presented to the branch who achieves the highest growth in volunteer participation over the previous year.
