Volunteers are the lifeblood of the YMCA. At all levels, volunteers contribute valuable resources of knowledge and talents to help our association carry out its mission. Whether your talents and interests are primarily sports and program-oriented, finance or office-oriented, or fundraising and event-oriented, the YMCA has a job waiting for you! There are a number of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year, including:
Program Volunteers – Those who work directly with members/program participants to deliver YMCA programs and services. Examples include:
- youth sports coaches
- fitness instructors
- aquatics instructors and lifeguards (>strong>require current certifications)
- child care assistants
- day camp counselors
- senior aides
- community service volunteers
Fundraising Volunteers – Those who provide the leadership and legwork that ensure successful fundraising campaigns.
Support Volunteers – This includes people who perform tasks such as:
- filing and typing
- greeting members and guests
- assisting branch staff in day-to-day operations and with special events
Turkey Trot Volunteers – Volunteers perform a variety of key tasks essential to the success of the YMCA Turkey Trot. The majority of these volunteer positions are scheduled for race day, but volunteer activities are available prior to race day as well. Sign up to volunteer at this year’s YMCA Turkey Trot.
Policy Volunteers – People who serve on the YMCA’s corporate board of directors, corporate board of trustees, or branch boards of management and related committees. Committee members are not required to be board members.
Togetherhood® – Togetherhood empowers Y members to lead and participate in volunteer service projects in our community giving people from all walks of life the chance to address the social issues impacting our community. The results are transformational, not only for the communities, but for the volunteers themselves.
