Our YMCA’s Turkey Trot’s history of excellence relies on our team of over 300 much needed volunteers who assemble each year to help make the event a success. We greatly appreciate all who lend their time and energy to support our annual Thanksgiving Day tradition.
Detailed information pertaining to your assignment will be forwarded to you after the registration process has been completed. All volunteers receive a complimentary YMCA Turkey Trot T-shirt when they check in for their assignment.

Volunteers prepare runner packets containing race t-shirts, pins, and promotional materials provided by sponsors.

Volunteers assist with race packet and t-shirt distribution.
Race packet stuffing and pre-race packet pick-up will be held at the Independent Health Family Branch YMCA, 150 Tech Drive in Amherst (next to Erie Community College’s North Campus).
This change was made in careful consideration for the safety and concern of the Delaware Family YMCA members and local residents living in proximity of the branch as well as our race participants and volunteers.
RACE DAY PACKET PICK-UP - Race day, 7:00 - 9:00 am
Volunteers assist with race packet and t-shirt distribution at the Delaware Family Branch YMCA.
INTERSECTION CONTROLLERS* - Race day, 8:00 - 11:00 am
Volunteers help to ensure the race course is closed to traffic and safe for race participants.
FINISH LINE CHUTE MOVERS* - Race day, 8:00 - 11:00 am
Volunteers assemble outside the Buffalo Convention Center to help guide runners across the finish line and into the Convention Center and Staler City.
FINISH LINE WATER STATION – Race Day, 8:30 - 11:00 am
Volunteers set up the water station and distribute water to participants as they cross the finish line outside the Convention Center.
REFRESHMENTS @ STATLER CITY (FAMILY AREA) - Race day, 8:30 - 11:30 am
Volunteers report to Statler City to assist in the set up and distribution of various refreshments during the post-race party.
REFRESHMENTS @ THE CONVENTION CENTER - Race day, 8:00 am - 12:00 Noon
Volunteers assist in the set-up and distribution of various refreshments during the post-race party and awards ceremony inside the Convention Center.
