Our Alumni have been unique characteristics of YMCA Camp Weona through their loyalty and support. Many of our campers, volunteers, and staff carry the relationship with YMCA Camp Weona throughout the year beyond the summer Camp season. The enduring nature of these relationships continue well into the adult lives and demonstrated through their financial support and attendance at alumni and alumnae gatherings.

Reunions continue each year, throughout the region, as well as the Columbus Day Alumni Weekend Family Camp, where many alumni now share their YMCA Camp Weona experience with their family and friends. It is a great way to reconnect with old cabin mates, leaders, make new friends, and still enjoy our beautiful camp. It also has become a great way to introduce camper age children to camp.

We want to hear from you our Alumni. Consider submitting a “camp story,” an address change, or help us connect the dots of other alums that you have connections with or keep in touch with, please let us know. Your story or photos of reunions, new arrivals, weddings, or other events to alumni@ymcacampweona.org and it we may feature it in our Annual Alumni Newsletter.

Alumni Camp Day and Campfire
Friday, July 13, 2012
A special afternoon and campfire program being held to mark the 115th anniversary at Weona. YMCA Camp Weona will be hooting Alumni for a tour, activities and evening celebration. Come out for the afternoon or join us that evening for campfire.

Columbus Day Alumni Family Camp
Saturday October 6 - Monday, October 8, 2012
Several families joined us for Columbus Day weekend. This is a special weekend designed for alumni and their families to share in the memories and making new memories as well.

ALUMNI COMMITTEE
Several alumni spend time together each year to plan events, raise awareness, refer new campers, and find resources for YMCA Camp Weona. Consider joining the committee that meets up to eight times a year locally in Buffalo to help support and grow YMCA Camp Weona.

ALUMNI SUPPORT
Host a Alumni Camp Night

We are seeking several families who live in Western New York neighborhoods to host an in home "camp" orientation evening.

The idea is that you would invite friends and neighbors with camp age children and teens to spend an hour with YMCA Camp Weona staff in your home. This is a great way for prospective campers, current campers and parents and alumni to gather and celebrate all things YMCA Camp Weona.

At these open houses, you can join our team to find out more about the coming summer and share with potential new campers and LITs. The YMCA will also target several families in your neighborhood as well to join us.

We are now scheduling open houses in March and April. Families who open their home will receive a hosting gift as well as discounts for summer camp 2012 for each NEW family that registers as a result of your in home evening.
