Summer dreams are made of time spent at YMCA Camp Weona. Whether you're horseback riding through a meadow, kayaking under the blue sky, making new friends, singing by the campfire, jumping into the refreshing pool, learning how to set up a campsite, or fishing at the lake, each day is full of new adventures.

Weona is a "group work" Camp.
Groups of 8-12 campers of similar gender and age attend daily activities together as a cabin with their counselors. The intention is to foster a family-like atmosphere.

At YMCA Camp Weona, small groups of eight to twelve campers with two cabin leaders live together and attend daily activities as a cabin group. Cabin groups consist of boys or girls entering similar grades. Each group belongs to an age specific unit sharing common activities and special programs. Each child will have the opportunity to choose one bunkmate of similar age. We make every attempt to honor these requests but it may not always be possible.

Our program design has the safety of campers in mind. A full-time camp health officer lives on site 24 hours a day. Camp is regulated by the New York State Health Department and Accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA). For more information visit the NYS Health Department and
ACA websites.

Our Back-To-Basics menu is prepared each day in the YMCA Camp Weona dining hall. The YMCA offers items that children enjoy in their daily life and help sustain the additional energy needed during long days at camp. Our food service staff prides themselves on the fact that there are no trans-fats in our meals and campers enjoy them.

Our program design gives everyone the opportunity to experience all age appropriate camp activities. We take special care to ensure each camper has challenging opportunities along with basic instruction in skills. During their stay, campers participate in horseback riding, adventure programming, outdoor living skills, athletics and the creative arts. As well as hike around on our nearly 1,000 acres and swim in our heated swimming, pool.
Through these activities, campers develop self-confidence, teamwork, an appreciation of the outdoors, creativity and pride in themselves and their newly learned skills. Most importantly, they will end their stay at YMCA Camp Weona with fond memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

The YMCA Rags Program centers on personal growth. Through goal setting, commitment, and positive values, campers learn to assess their needs and enrich themselves spiritually. Started in 1914 by YMCA Camp Director, Thomas Caldwell, the Rag program is as a way to mark levels of self-development. This is an optional program for campers wanting to dedicate themselves to noble living. Learn more online.
