Dear Camper Parent,
With our 115th year of operation, the staff and I strive to make a quality summer camping experience. YMCA Camp Weona can provide one of the most exciting and precious memories in a young person’s life. As you begin to choose a resident camp for your child, I have provided some resources here to help you make YMCA Camp Weona a special experience for your camper and family.
As a parent myself, I work hard to bring together the best staff and volunteers to YMCA Camp Weona. For our first time parents, please consider the outdoor experience of camp as part growing up.
As a proud member of the American Camp Association, I would direct you to several links about camps and preparing your camper. I also would like to suggest the following books: “The Blessing of a B Minus” and “The Blessing of a Skinned Knee” both by Wendy Mogel, Ph.D. and “Last Child In The Woods” by Richard Louv.
I look forward to seeing you in person at camp this summer. And please know that my own children (Alec, 17, Kelly, 15, and Brian, 9) continue to look forward to the YMCA Camp Weona experience as well.
Come and explore the YMCA Camp Weona adventure with us. There's an exciting summer ahead in a place “where only good prevails.”
Warmest Regards,
A.L. Ferreira
