A Message from Our Leadership

As we reflect and celebrate all that the YMCA accomplished in 2018, it’s important to remember that our work is just beginning. The past year reminds us of the unique and important role the Y plays in Western New York, and it’s our mission to continue to be the cause-driven organization that helps all people grow strong in spirit, mind, and body.

At the Y, we pride ourselves on being a place for anyone who needs us because we believe everyone, no matter who they are or where they are from, deserves the same opportunities. The need for our programs and services continues to grow, and our association is proud to have served more than 172,300 people last year. We were able to expand our presence in the community thanks in large part to the October grand opening of the new Lockport Family YMCA, which now serves over 12,000 families, children, and seniors in Lockport and Eastern Niagara County, a fourfold increase from the old facility. Thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated partners, donors, volunteers, and staff, last year we were able to provide $1,399,203 in financial assistance to 2,958 individuals and families across the region. Your generosity helped to ensure more adults found support and friendship through healthy living programs, more children were able to learn and thrive in a safe and welcoming environment, and more seniors felt part of a community and a renewed sense of purpose through group activities and experiences.

With your continued support, we are optimistic about the future. After months of hard work and meetings with community leaders, volunteers, Boards of Trustees and Directors, members, and staff, we have developed a strategic plan that provides us the direction to continue to be an organization that improves the well-being and quality of life in our communities. From engaging more youth and teens with innovative and meaningful experiences and expanding our collaborations and community partnerships, to positioning the Y to grow and serve more people, this plan is a framework of the impact we aim to have throughout Western New York in the coming years.

We are proud to share with you our 2018 Impact Report, which includes stories and information that showcase the important work we do every single day to promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.  At our core, the Y is about creating opportunity and helping all people reach their fullest potential. Together, we continue to make positive and lasting change in our community. Thank you for supporting YMCA Buffalo Niagara.
