Camp Eggert provides children of all ages the opportunity to achieve, belong to a community that cares, and exercise their power to choose in a fun and safe environment. Located in Orchard Park, it includes an outdoor pool, archery range, gaga pit, sports courts, and also a brand new high ropes course and zipline! Each day provides the opportunity for your child to learn new skills or improve existing ones. We offer Day Camp for all ages and leadership programs such as Leaders-in-Training and Counselors-in-Training programs.
Entering grades 1-6
Experience everything summer camp has to offer! Your child will reach new heights on the climbing tower and ropes course or hit the target at archery. Your child will also work with other campers in their age group to create art projects, play sports, further swimming skills, and engage in unique activities with other campers who share similar interests in a Specialty Track program. Each day is an opportunity to learn something new, make lifelong friends and memories, and most importantly have fun!
Each afternoon, campers participate in a Specialty Track chosen by them. These programs allow campers to personalize their camp experience, develop skills and confidence, and work with other campers who share their interests. Our Sports and Theater Specialty Tracks have additional components during the day. The 2019 Specialty Tracks are Sports (formerly Sports Camp), Theater, Adventure, Wilderness, Art, and Rest and Relaxation.
Campers entering grades 7 & up also have the option to sign up for Day Camp at YMCA Camp Eggert!
This summer, Camp Eggert is expanding for campers of all ages. Camp Eggert Day Camp is now available for anyone entering grades 1 & up, including grades 7-12 (formerly Teen Camp).
Entering grades 7 & 8
There are leaders and there are those who lead. At Camp Eggert, we strive to not just show our Leaders-in-Training a course of action, but also to offer them the cause of action that will allow them to become great leaders capable of inspiring and motivating others. By engaging in leadership skills workshops, service learning projects, and developing their own daily schedule, participants will learn the whys, hows, and whats of becoming a great leader. They will have the opportunity to give back to camp and put their skills into practice by planning and running several special events for all of Camp Eggert to participate in.
Entering grades 9 & up
For those who enjoy working with children, the Counselors-in-Training program offers our teen campers an opportunity to gain practical experience and leadership skills to prepare them for positions as camp counselors. Under the close supervision of YMCA staff, CITs work alongside our camp counselors to help prepare daily curriculum, lead activities, and supervise younger campers. All CITs participate in a training process during the first week of their session to prepare them for assisting our staff. In addition to their week of training, CITs must commit to at least three of the four remaining weeks in their session. Additional weeks can be added for CITs that attend and complete the first session. Teens wishing to participate in the CIT program will interview and meet with the camp administration prior to the summer to go over the program and its requirements. Contact Ryan Ende, Program Director for more information.
