Camp Kenan Life & Activities
Our campers and staff members all agree – YMCA Camp Kenan is a great place to grow! It doesn’t matter whether you are challenging yourself to reach new athletic limits in basketball and soccer, taking an excursion on beautiful Lake Ontario, learning outdoor education and nature study, making new friends, or taking in one of the greatest sunsets you’ll ever see, each day is overflowing with adventures just waiting to be discovered!
YMCA Camp Kenan staff members are carefully selected and highly trained to provide a safe and fun camp experience for all participants. All staff and employees of YMCA Camp Kenan voluntarily submit to thorough background and reference checks before becoming employed and are trained extensively before camp begins.
Health and Safety
Safety is our primary goal during your child’s stay with us. Children are allowed free time but are always under a counselor’s supervision. YMCA Camp Kenan meets the strictest requirements for YMCA resident camps, maintains accreditation by the American Camping Association (ACA), and is inspected annually by the Niagara County Health Department. A registered nurse lives on site, and our infirmary is equipped to care for temporary illness and accommodate overnight stays if necessary. Hospital facilities in Newfane, NY are less than fifteen minutes away. Camp staff receive training in First Aid and CPR, and many hold additional certifications such as Lifeguarding and Responding to Emergencies to help provide the safest environment possible.
