YMCA Camp Tahigwa in Corfu, NY is the ideal environment for children who love the great outdoors. Unlike any other day camp offered by the YMCA, Camp Tahigwa is filled with daily activities that will arouse any child’s curiosity and spirit for outdoor adventures. Each day provides the opportunity for your child to self select and master a new skill, whether it’s the low ropes course, hiking through the endless acres of woods, archery, canoeing, four square, gaga pit games, crafts or just catching frogs Camp Tahigwa offers so much more! We even offer a basic mountain biking camp so children can perfect their biking skills and learn new techniques in a fun and safe environment.

Camp Tahigwa is easily accessible as we offer different pick-up and drop-off locations for bus transportation to the camp, including:

Entering grades 1-6
YMCA Day Camp is geared for fun, exploration, and adventure! They spend time swimming, exploring the environment through nature study, developing their creative skills in arts & crafts, learning how to work together as a group, elective options, and more. Day campers are broken into age specific groups to ensure all activities are geared toward their specific interests and abilities.
Leaders in Training
Entering grades 7 & 8
This challenging program reaps endless rewards through new friendships, an increased self awareness and self esteem and new interests. Participants will develop leadership skills in twelve skill groups: teamwork, responsibility, respect, motivation, listening, planning, initiative, creativity, persistence, presenting, problem solving, and observation. They will put these skills to use as they plan several special events for the camps to participate in. They also will have fun within their group by participating in activities just for them chosen by them! With this combination your child is bound to have an amazing summer while developing new skills and friendships to last a lifetime.
Counselors in Training
Entering grades 9 & up
The CIT program is geared toward those teens who want to become a camp counselor. Teens will work to develop leadership skills in twelve skill groups: teamwork, responsibility, respect, motivation, listening, planning, initiative, creativity, persistence, presenting, problem solving, and observation. Teens will also learn skills for working with children as well as job readiness. CIT’s will work side by side with our counselors, helping to plan and lead activities for our younger campers. CIT’s may be required to participate in an interview process and must commit to attend a minimum number of weeks of camp.
Mountain Biking Camp
Entering grades 3-8
Basic mountain biking skills and techniques are taught in a safe and fun environment at Camp Tahigwa. Campers bike through our nature trails nestled in the woods. The program also provides campers access to other outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, and archery. Bicycle and helmet are provided.
Outdoor Education Program
Entering grades 3-8
YMCA Camp Tahigwa’s outdoor education program provides a unique opportunity for students to learn about our natural environment in an outdoor setting. The program is tailored to meet each school’s specific needs or goals and ensure students have the best experience possible. Our outdoor education program meets important social, emotional, and developmental objectives including cooperative learning and character development through various activities, from pond study and canoeing to low ropes and zip lining.
