Day Camps

YMCA day camps offer convenient locations, a variety of programs, and extended hours—making YMCA summer camp ideal for working parents. From traditional camp experiences like arts & crafts and sports to specialized activities, our camps offer something for every kid to discover within themselves. With options for children of every age, this summer is shaping up to be even more rewarding and fun than ever.

YMCA camp staff are carefully selected and go through extensive training. All camps are health department certified and adhere to strict staff to camper ratios. Our camps include:

Young Explorers

(Ages 3 – entering Kindergarten)
A fun and educational way for young children to spend their summer. Specially designed for preschoolers, campers enjoy instructional and recreational swimming, arts & crafts, outdoor play, story time, and more.

Day Camp

(Entering grades 1-6)
Campers have a terrific time throughout days filled with age-appropriate activities such as instructional and recreational swimming, weekly field trips, arts & crafts, sports, games, outdoor activities, and more. Campers are divided into small age groups, each with its own staff, promoting individual growth and a sense of belonging.


(Entering grades 7 & 8)
A unique camp program specially designed for this age group. Teens work to develop their own curriculum under the direction of trained YMCA staff. Group interaction and peer development is stressed with an emphasis on leadership skills.


(Entering grades 9 & up)
For those who enjoy working with children, this program offers our teen campers an opportunity to gain some real work experience and leadership skills under the close supervision of YMCA staff. CITs work alongside camp counselors to help prepare daily curriculum, lead activities, and supervise younger campers.

Sampler Camp

(Entering grades 1-6)
Not quite ready to spend a week away from home? Sampler Camp is perfect for the camper who wants to experience overnight without staying for an entire week. Spend two and a half days of the week (Mon-Tue) attending day camp, then stay overnight for three nights (Wed-Sat) at Camp Kenan. Busing to Camp Kenan on Wednesday is included, but parents will need to pick up their children at Camp Kenan on Saturday. Available at our Ken-Ton, Niagara Falls, Lockport, and Camp Kenan locations.

Travel Camp

(Entering grades 1-6)
Are you ready for your camper to take a vacation but you have to work? Try our travel camp. Campers spend each day experiencing new adventures as they take daily field trips to exciting locations in the Buffalo Niagara region. Trips vary by location and space is limited so call your branch for more information and sign up today!

Bounce & Splash Camp

(Entering grades 1-8)
Children who enjoy playing in the water will love this camp! Each day is packed with activities including fun water sports and games, a variety of pool activities, and arts & crafts. Children receive swim instruction, learn about water safety, and enjoy free swim.

Gymnastics Camp

(Entering grades 1-8)
A non-competitive camp for boys and girls, new or already skilled in gymnastics. Parallel bars, uneven bars, vault, and balance beam are utilized. Swimming, arts & crafts, games, and outdoor education are included.

Mission Innovation: Science & Technology Camp

(Entering grades 2-6)
Join us as we take campers on a journey of discovery and innovation at the Southtowns YMCA. Through hands-on investigations and experiments, campers experience a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) concepts that foster problem-solving, planning, analysis, and decision-making skills. In addition to our daily STEM activities, each week includes a day out in our community, seeing STEM in action, and meeting individuals in the field.

Mountain Biking Camp

(Entering grades 3-8)
Basic mountain biking skills and techniques are taught in a safe, fun environment at Camp Tahigwa. Campers bike through our nature trails nestled in the woods. The program also provides campers access to other outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, and archery.

Arts & Theatre Camp

(Entering grades 3-8)
Over the course of seven weeks, campers are involved in all aspects of staging a play. Specialty workshops are held in set and costume design as well as voice, acting, and dance! The camp culminates in a performance for family and friends to enjoy, while mini performances are held every Friday at camp.

Teen Camp

(Entering grades 7 & up)
A unique program designed especially for teenagers. A careful balance of program components has been created to foster creativity, adventure, peer interaction, leadership skills, values clarification, and friendships that will last a lifetime.
