Many know the Y as a place to swim or exercise, but at our core, we are a charity dedicated to strengthening community. By offering opportunities to volunteer, the Y helps people serve their communities and bring about meaningful, lasting change.
Togetherhood empowers Y members to lead and participate in volunteer service projects in our community – giving people from all walks of life the chance to address the social issues impacting our community. The results are transformational, not only for the communities, but for the volunteers themselves.
Our Togetherhood Team has made a difference here in WNY. We take part in a variety of community projects over the course of a year and we encourage participants to bring ideas to the group that they feel passionate about.
Recent projects include:
Buffalo Waterkeeper Spring Shoreline Sweep
Lyme Disease and Tic Removal Awareness
Make LemonAide Foundation Walk/Run/Roll in Lauren’s Shoes 5k
Donation Drive for local animal rescue shelters
Habitat for Humanity – September/October 2019
Hospice of Buffalo Thanksgiving Pie Baking – November 2019
Who Can Participate:
We aim to make the programs we participate in as family friendly as possible so that everyone can take part in giving back.
You do not have to be a YMCA member to take part in Togetherhood! Simply email us your interest in learning more about our projects and we’ll keep you informed as new projects are put on the calendar.
